V NICARAGUA BROMELIACEAE Bromelia alsodes H. St. John det. A. Poo 1, 1997 Chontales Around Hacienda Corpus, 13.5 km W of Juigalpa. 1E°07'N, 85°88’30"-89'W, elev. 100 m. Common, forming patches, the leaves often reddish. Inflorescence erect, the fruit green, turning yellow-orange, the pulp tart, pleasant-tasting, some seem to be pecked open (by birds?) and pulp and seeds removed.
