Growing in the water-tanks of the huge Bromelia
(Kvist et al. 107) which occur in dense
populations. Basal leaves with numerous bladders
submerged in water. Emerged leaves with petioles
to 60 cm and cordate leaves; peduncles to 1.5 m;
corolla violet, upper lip with yellow medially,
cream without; spur cream.

steep forested slope from Johnson’s View down to
Potaro River. 5°11’N, 59°29’W. Elev. 180 - 420 m.
Low-statured forest with numerous lianas and
mosses. Steep rocky slopes with little soil, many
crevices. Growing on rocks just above the highest
water-level.
