[Original note on sheet:] "Native of China" [Additional note on sheet by D. H. Nicolson, July 17, 1962:] "Not native to China." [This specimen is currently filed in Northern Asia. Thomas Hogg, Sr. (born in Scotland), was a well-known gardener during his time and possibly NYC's 1st florist. His establishment was near the House of Refuge, NYC. His nursery moved from the Bowery to Bloomingdale Road (388 Broadway).]
