Roberts County: Alto Township T123N R52W Section 13 NW4 NW4 NE4 SW4 A pasture (owned by Darrell and Bonnie Pies) is approximately 9 miles north/northwest of Summit. A 3+ acre rich fen occurs in a drainageway and a wet meadow occurs west of the fen. The soil in the fen appears to be mapped as Marsh (Mr) and Rauville mucky silt loam, 0 to 2 percent slopes (Ra), a Cumulic Haplaquoll. The soil in the fen is actually a muck (medisaprist). The pasture is on the Prairie Coteau. Hundreds of Utricularia minor occur in the shallow pools of the floating mat portion of the rich fen. The corollas are pale yellow. Utricularia minor is associated with Carex aauatilis. Carex pellita. Carex utriculata. Equisetum fluviatile. Lemna sp., Lysimachia thrvsiflora and Typha latifolia. Utricularia minor also occurs in shallow water in the west portion of a marsh north of the rich fen (T123N R52W Section 13 NE4 NE4 SW4 NW4 and SE4 SE4 NW4 NW4). Mark J.
