    Brazil. São Paulo. Mogi Guaçú Mun. "Campos das Sete Lagôas". Fazenda Campininha, just north of Rio Moji-Guaçu. 3.4 km. NNW of Padua Sales. (About 27 km. NW of city of Moji-Mirim.).

  • Habitat

    Campo cerrado on upland (or occasionally forest). Open marsh or dense secondary forest along streams. This habitat: abandoned cultivated field behind main house of fazenda, with dense growth of grasses & herbs 3-4 dm. tall. Originally cerrado vegetation. Poor soil, reddish-brown fine sand with a little clay.

  • Description

    Herb, sev. decumbent rooting stems from taproot, to 1 m. long. Calyx inflated, lt. green tinged with purple, esp. on veins. Corolla zygomorphic, 2 petals in upper lip dull purplish-blue, white below, 3 in lower lip, all dull purplish blue. Filaments pale white; anthers black. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
