L. annotinum, distributed all over the septentrional zone, forms toge-
ther with the closely related subarctic species L. dúbium ZOEGA and
L. subarcticum VASILJEV and the Chinese species L. malacophyllum
HAND.-MAZZ. the section Annotina (ROUY) HOLUB Preslia 36:17, 1964,
for which it represents the type species. In Czechoslovakia it occurs —
like other representatives of the boreal floral element — at higher alti-
tudes, especially in the montane and supramontane belts (from where
the edited specimens a,lso originate), it also occurs but only sporadically
in the lower situated habitats (in secondary coniferous forests).
