Highway (unpaved gravel road), lA mile SW of Hwy. 47,
5.8 miles N of junction of Hwy. 47 with Rte. 6 in
Woodbury.
41°36’10’N, 73°17’18”W. alt. 1025 ft.
Shrub 2 m. tall. Rare, only one seen, but the normal green
form abundant and forming nearly complete understory
over several acres in young deciduous woods, but
completely absent across road in similar woods. Leaves
purple above, green with purple tinge below. Flowers
hanging, yellow; sepals green in middle on outside. Similar
to the abundant normal green-leaved form, no. Nee 54328
growing here, but flowers somewhat larger and darker
yellow and the sepals purple on the middle outside.
