Weekeepeemee River. Second growth forest on
former farmland on rocky, slightly hilly terrain.
Betula allegheniensis, B. lenta, Quercus alba,
Ouercus spp., Acer rubrum, A. saccharum.
Carpinus caroliniana, Pinus strobus, Tsuga
canadensis, etc.
Voucher for wood specimen, MADw 47529.
Common in brushy areas or as understory in
thin woods. Shrub 1.5 m. tall, with several
stems from base; inner bark bright yellow.
Fruit few, green, hanging.
