Young woods, on E-facing slope, with Carya cordiformis,
Tilia americana, Fraxinus americana, Ostrya virginiana,
with Podophyllum peltatum.
Rare in this woods, a clump of many arching stems of
various sizes, the largest to 1.5 m. tall, 1.7 cm. in diameter,
the smaller ones replacing the larger ones. Voucher for
wood specimen, MADw. Wood bright yellow. Flowers
light yellow, hanging, visited by bumblebee (5:30 P.M.,
sunny).
