In colonies in swampy areas, to 1.5 m tall, the stem somewhat woody;
leaves stiff brittle, lustrous medium yellow-green without, within
matte light yellow green, filled with water to drainage pore, some
with leaves marked dark red along veins; peduncle lustrous yejlow-
-green flushed red; bracts lustrous light yellow-green within and
without; tepals matte snow-white, the tips reflexed; anthers style
and stigma cream-yellow.
* AUTION: Delicate parts and leaves
? it plants field-pressed in alcohol
may shrink 25% or more on drying.
Alrededores de Estación D1(C), Campamento Base, (al O del "Savana Hills Camp"
de Tate*), las filas con 'crest slope vegetation'* de Brocchinia, Stegolepis pungens,
Heliamphora, etc. , invadido por el bosque bajo (hasta 5 m) de loé sitios con piedra
expuesta y del borde de los riachuelos; 'valley forest'* en las quebradas hondas.
Mucha evidencia de fuego, sobre todo las bases carbonizadas de Vellozia, Stegol. ,
y árboles muertos a pie. CERRO DUIDA, inmediatámenté ál N de La Esmeralda
(Lat. 03°10' N, Long. 65°3rO), en el Alto Río Orinoco, TERRITORIO FEDERAL
AMAZONAS, VENEZUELA. Elevación ca. I350 ms*n.m..
