Boggy valley with Heliamphora, Sphagnum and gallery forest of Euterpe, Podocarpus, slopes with shrubby vegetation of Bonnetia, Weinmannia. Usually erect on short stems to 2 dm. tall, sometimes cespitose and dwarfed (only young?). Leaves green at base, red-purple at tip, a few plants with red-bracted inflores- cences but none in flower here now. Coll.: M.
