Field Char: Adhesive vine on large trunk; leaves
distichous, glabrous, pliant, concolorous green
on both surfaces; peduncle & spathe purple;
spadix cylindrical, yellow; berries red.
Notes: The growing stems are wrapped in leaves,
cooked, and eaten as a vegetable.
Locality: East Sepik Province, Waskuk Hills,
second buttress ridge above the foot track from
Garuka to Waskuk, territory of the Glei Clan.
Habitat: Hill forest.
