Erect herb, 1.3-1.8 m. tall, several steins from base of clump. Flowers with thick sweet smell of burned sugar. Petals and stamens yellow; style green; stigmas dull purple. Common in low marshy pasture with Monarda fistulosa, Verbena hastata, Geum allepicum, Erigeron annuus, scattered Alnus rugosa. WISCONSIN: Richland Co., 3 miles SE of Richland Center.
