Climber, clinging to trunk of large tree in
pasture, flowering and fruiting with 2 m. of
ground, climbing to 5 m. FIs. zygomorphic with 5
lobes, lowest lobe longest. Central pink thin
stripe visible on inner sides of petals,
strongset on upper two. Flowers ca. 4 cm. long,
2.5 across at mouth. Calyx persistent, sepals
inverse heart shape, serrated, pale green ca. 4
cm. long. Fruit conspicuous-opened 2 bright red
carpels ca. 2 cm. across, surrounding pithy,
sticky mass of small black seeds. Outer sides of
carpels green but not visible at maturity.
