PLANTS OF THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS. COLLECTED ON THE I8LAND OF OAHU. IN AND ON THE SLOPES OF MAKIKI, By A. A. Heller, April 5, 1895. Moldenke Identified by H. N. Moldenke and cited by him in his Monograph of the Genus March, 19^1 Lantana Camara var. aculeata (L.) ______ Lantana camara L. Sp. Pl. 627. 1753. This species has become the most noxious plant in the Is- lands. Introduced in 1&58, it is now abundant, and has ruined hundreds of acres of valuable pasture land. It forms impene- trable thickets on the slopes and in gulches of the lowlands, and has even invaded the lower forests. Here it grows in thick clumps, the stems often becoming weak and vine-like, and intertwining in a very intricate manner. The flowers vary in color, some being almost white, others purplish, and some are orange. April 5 (2088); original locality, “in America calidiore,” I ¿6. i] Aa 'UO lid 03687078
