Harvard University, Gray Herbarium (GH) PLANTS OF WASHINGTON Blechnum spicant (L.) J. Smith BLECHNACEAE Herbs to 3ft tall, very common. Growing in some shade at the south edge of a small Sphagnum bog 300-400ft in diameter, in a shrubby area and forest margin, in peat & decaying logs & stumps, possibly derived from an old, burned bog forest (burned tree trunks present). Growing with Anemone oregana var.felix, Boykinia intermedia, Cornus canadensis, Drosera rotundifolia, Gaultheria shallon, Ledum groenlandicum, Linnaea borealis subsp. longiflora, Lycopodium clavatum, Lysichiton americanus, Maianthemum dilatatum, Menziesia ferruginea, Pseudotsuga menziesii, Pteridium aquilinum, Rhamnus purshiana, Rubus spectabilis, Sphagnum spp., Spiraea douglasii var. menziesii, Thuja plicata, Tsuga heterophylla, Vaccinium ovalifolium & V. oxycoccos. To the W. side of Rt. 101, about 5.8mi N. of the bridge over the Humptulips River. Grays Harbor Co. Elev. about 400ft. 47° 17’ 56.4”N, 123° 54' 33.0”W. UTM 10 431261E, 5238791N. (NAD83/WGS84). Coll.
