Description
Pileus violet brown to dark ruby (11-12E-F4), with a beveled margin. Pores (11-12D4) when very young, becoming white then pinkish flesh color with age, changing to brown when bruised. Stipe clavate, up to 1.5 cm at apex, 5 cm at base, occasionally finely reticulate only at apex. Odor pungent but not idiosyncratic, taste mild. Photo documentation and color notes on young material especially the pores and pileus.
