Province: Canar. Bosque Protector Molleturo Mullopungo. Forest near
village of Manta Real. Note: Provincially, Manta Real is locally
reported as belonging in "Zona no limitada," provincia de Azuay, or
provincia de Canar. Elevation: 250 m. 02°33'S 079o21'W. Tropical wet
forest. Terrestrial suffrutescent herb, 1.5 m tall. Stems erect and
quadrangular. Flowers in axillary fascicles. Calyx lobes red. Corolla
whitish-yellow w/ red lobes; hypocyrtoid. Stigma bilobed. Nectary a
single lobed dorsal gland. Flowers not resupinate. Photographs of this
