Whetstone Mountains, east flanks of foothills, French Joe Canyon, 1.3 miles west of Sand Ranch Road, along Forest Service Road 4018, T19S R19E Section 3, center, 5600 feet, 1706 m. At spring, in canyon with Rhus choriophylla, Vitis, Quercus grisea, Mimosa dysocarpa, Juglans major, Prosopis velutina, Acacia, Desmodium, Rhamnus californica, Bothriochloa, Hedeoma; on open slopes Agave schottii, A. palmeri, Macrosiphonia, Eragrostis lehmaniana, Croton, Mimosa dysocarpa, Cheilanthes, Acacia angustissima, Mammillaria heyderi, Ferocactus wislizenii, Fouquieria, Evolvulus, Echinocereus pectinatus, Dasylirion, Jatropha macrorhiza, Artemesia ludoviciana, Solanum eleagnifolium, Celtis reticulata, Quercus grisea, Q. emoryi.
