RANCHO SANTA ANA BOTANIC GARDEN Flora of Los Angeles County, California, USA LYTHRACEAE Lythrum californicum Torrey & A. Gray Liebre Mountains, southeastern end of Peace Valley in San Andreas Rift Zone, fault sag south of Highway 138 and north of the California Aqueduct, ca. 0.75 air miles west of Quail Lake. Near 34°40’25”N, 118°46’12”W. T8NR18WN 1/2 NW 1/4 NE 1/4 sec. 22. Elev. ca. 3300 ft. Low alkaline area, soil silty. Sag area with Distichlis spicata, Cressa truxillensis, Malvella leprosa, Epilobium brachycarpum in more alkaline areas, patches of Populus fremontii and Salix gooddingii woodland about seepages.
