500-530 ft. West side of gorge. Acid humus over
metamorphic gneissic boulders and bedrock.
Mixed mesic to wet upland forest with Tsuga, Acer; E
facing slopes with Osmunda, Athyrium. Occasional to
locally common fern, fronds erect in a whorl from a short
rhizome.
