Collection Notes
"Hortus Elginensis." Elgin Garden was one of the first botanical gardens in the United States and the first in New York State, established in 1801 by Dr. David Hosack. It was a medicinal herb garden associated with Columbia University (Columbia College at the time), used by its medical students. The site is where Rockefeller Center stands today.
