ni 5 \*r PLANTS OF MEXICO Edo. Veracruz Amphitecna regalis det. M. Nee, 1984 1 km. S of Agustín Melgar, on way to Rio Solosuchil, Mun. Hidalgotitlan. 17° 15' N , 94° 34 ' W alt. 100 m. SELVA ALTA PERENNIFOLIA. 12 year-old "acahual" (secondary growth) and adjacent pastures with a few trees remaining from the tropical evergreen forest; terrain flat or gently rolling. Unbranched tree 5 m. tall, 10 cm. in diameter, with a single terminal tuft of leaves to 1.15 m. long. Cauliflorous, the flowers borne on the trunk, 1-2 m. from the ground, held horizontally, with a sweetish mousy odor; calyx greenish white with purple, purple when first emerging; corolla off-white; anthers, filaments and style the same off- Coll.: M.
