Dear Sir,-
I should be much Indebted if you would kindly tell me
whether the form of Poiypodium enclosed is that known as var.
Cambricum. There are a few plants of it near the sho’re of Oak.Bay,
about five miles from here , scattered among those of the common
form,- so few, in fact, that I have brought away only one frond to
send to you. I hope it may reach you before it is too dry to be
revived ; so that, if it is unfamiliar, you may see its very pretty
arrangement of the pinnae, which is quite lost when they are pressed-
together in drying. I visited the spot last summer, and carefully
examined every frond of this form in sight, finding them all sterile ;
which, I believe, is what would be expected in the case of the var.
Cambricum.
Yours..very truly,
