Enclosed are the descriptions of the new
Ophioglossum as furnished to the Fern Journal» I hope
that I have not made any serious blunders In then« I
will get the type sheets ©iff to yon very soon*
I am more ant aere amazed by the abundance of this
species in this region. The suckering, especially
of the retículo sum for«, maizes the colonies very dense
in some places« It is coming into fruit rapidly * 1
suppose because of the unusual rains*
I am also enclosing a specimen of the newly fount
filmy fern* I suppose it la Pete rail. The marginal
hairs are almost invariably in pair*. Is that true
or that species? And Is it not smaller than the type?
Evidently it Is more seasonal in the production of spores
than punctatua la here*
This find was close to the station for Polystlehum
and only a mile or so from 4« pumllum«
Thank you very much for the specimens of T. punctatum
which Robert shared with me some days ago# ~
Wc are still having rains every two or three dayst
and the weather is eool for the season* The ferns irt
just starting* The high water reatrlets exploration
greatly* I'm wondering if the Fahkahatehie Cypress will
be accessible this spring* I hope so, for I have
been anticipating a day or two there before going north*
Yesterday afternoon Mr* and Mrs* Knight dorve in and
are at my brother's. The four of them are off to
Homciassa and the (our) Sulphur Spring grotto*
I am hoping to make a rather decisive visit to the lec
Lecanto cave this week or Sunday, Then I shall try to
formulate my thought about those Asplenlums»
