Croat, 1995 Panama Along road between El Valle de Madraño and La Saena, 2.5 mi N of El Valle de Madroño, 3.5 mi N of turn-off To San José, 11.6 mi N of Las Margaritas, (vicinity of Chepo, in valley of Río Mamoni. 09°14’25"N 079°05 1 00"W 180 m Terrestrial to 1 m tall; internodes 1.5-3 cm long, 1.5-4.0 cm diam., dark black-green, faintly mottled with medium green, moderately glossy; petioles medium green, faintly striate at base of sheath, sharply sulcàtë above sheath; blades subcoriaceous, dark green and semiglossy above, moderately paler and matte below, sometimes sparsely to densely mottled with pale green to white; midrib flat-raised and pale above, sometimes weakly sulcate above, narrow-rounded and paler below; primary lateral veins sunken above, convex and darker below; minor veins moderately indistinct below; inflorescences 1-4 per axil; spathe medium green both surfaces; pistils pale yellow-greeny infruetescence medium green; fruits red-orange. # j 2è July 1994 . * ... # Thomas B.
