/Large herb, up to 3 m. high, with fleshy,
spiny peduncles and petioles, growing in
shallow water.
Leafblades with a diameter up to 1 m.
Spatha outside green, inside pale green-
yellowish with purple vertically lines.
Length of the spathe: up to 60 cm. ,
spadix at base 3 cm. thick.
