Along SW side of rest area exit to I-10-W, east side of
Apalachicola River bluffs south of Flat Creek. Elevation
about 150 feet. Clay and humus over marl near exposed
marl outcrop.
Mesic north-facing pine-maple-Carpinus forest over wet
marl at intermittent drainage, in shade. Some Trillium
lancifolium present, with Adiantum capillus-veneris.
Occasional, local small ‘treelet’ - single trunks, about
4-5 feet tall; fruits pale green, branches very flexible.
