the confluence of Castaic Creek and Fish Canyon. USGS

section 16; elev. ca 3040-3100 feet.
Ridgetop with clayey soil and disturbed grassy
openings amid a mosaic of Chaparral and coastal sage
scrub. Associated species include Adenostoma
fasciculatum, Salvia leucophylla, S. mellifera,
Heteromeles arbutifolia, Sambucus mexicana,
Trichostema lanatum, Ceanothus cuneatus, etc.
Rounded shrubs ca 16 x 25 dm; scattered locally;
leaves paler abaxially; infructescence rachis pendent,
fruits ascending, dull rose-red.
