PLANTAS DE VENEZUELA
Anthurium nymphaeifolium Koch et Bouché
Erect herb. Stem 3.6 cm thick covered with brown, shredding cata-
phylls. Petiole slightly sulcate adax.; geniculum to 5.2 cm long.
Blade leathery, glossy on both faces, abax. pale green with yel-
low-green rib. Spathe 22.5 x 13 cm, glossy green-white outside,
inside nearly white. Stipe green. Spadix dirty white in anthesis,
11.5 x 1.5 cm, flowers 3 mm long, anthers white. In age, spadix
suffused red-purple, to 2.2 cm thick in fruit; tepals red-purple
with truncate apices brown, berries red-purple; spathe persistent,
inside greenish, outside glossy bright green. Mature fruits obo-
void, to 9 mm long, the apex teat-like.
