Epiphyte on tree 3 m up. Rosulate with huge mass of roots ex-
tending upward & in all directions, hiding petioles. Petiole
10 cm long, stoutish, adax. more of less flat with a strong med-
ian ridge, abax. rounded but often with suggestion of 3-ridges,
cream-green; geniculum much stouter (1.8 cm across). Blade very
firm, coriaceous-brittle, undulate, adax. bright rich green very
glossy, midrib with very high-angular median ridge, I/s strongly
convex; abax. glossy, silvery-light green; rib angular, creamy
green in young leaf, pale green in age. Peduncle strongly suf-
fused deep violet. Spathe oblique, flat with margins rolled up-
ward, slightly spreading-erect, outside glossy with longitudinal
patches of green and strongly suffused deep violet-wine, inside
somewhat glossy & maroon-wine nearly solid-colored. Spadix (in-
cluding stipe) wine, non-glossy, 10.2 x 0.65 cm.
