Rooted in soil or on rocks on very steep slopes;
caudex to ca 40 cm long; cataphyll turning
brown, entire, thin.; petiole 4-sided, flat on
upper side with erect, marginal ribs, the sides
flat to concave, the bottom flat with erect
ribs; midrib of blade flat at base above, sharp-
ly angulate distally especially near apex,
midrib beneath squarish near base, round toward
apex; major laterals raised on both sides; minor
laterals obscure above, moderately visible
beneath; spathe green, reflexed, ca 10 cm long,
abruptly acuminate at apex, incurled and coiled;
immature spadix bronw; pistils green, beginning
to emerge; fruiting spadix with fruits red,
rounded at apex, astringent to taste, pulpy;
spathe green, reflexed, becoming brown in age on
upper side; frequent on upper slopes.
