Terrestrial; roots in massive cluster; spathe and spadix purple-violet; spathe beaked at apex; petiole broadly canaliculate to flattened above; sharply 3-ribbed beneath; midrib sharply raised on both sides; major veins raised above and beneath; veinlets obscure; fruits oblong- ovate, exserted before maturity, red at maturity; inflorescence short, arising from cataphyll.
