East Hampton Township, hamlet of Montauk, Montauk State Park, west of Ogden’s bridge, in small open swamp. (4i.o66i9°N 07i.88850°W). Perennial graminoid; bases red; leaf sheath with apical tooth ~.75 mm long; spike 5mm x 1.5 mm wide; carpellate scales purple, margins scarious; culms sulcate; in association with Carex lurida, Carex laevivaginata, C. vulpinoidea, Onoclea sensibilis, Impatiens capensis, Solidago canadensis var. canadensis, Thelypteris palustris, Iris versicolor & Cornus amomum.
