Perennial graminoid; 2 styles, connate at basal 1/3; floral scales
slightly pigmented red, no mucronate apex, 2.5 -2.75 mm long;
growing in association with Mentha canadensis, Carex normalis,
Impatiens capensis, Lycopus americanus, Thelypteris palustris,
Juncus effusus, Hydrocotyle verticillata, Eupatorium perfoliatum
and Cyperus dentatus.
