Mt. Haupu, middle of the range N of finger, trail up ridge behind
maintenance sheds. About 2/3 up ridge and above Eucalyptus and
Psidium forest. Disturbed lowland windward mesic forest Hibiscus
kokio, Bobea brevipes, Psychotria mariniana, Diospyros, Bidens,
Artimesia, Peperomia tetraphylla, Metrosideros, Bidens, Pilea,
Dianella, Euphorbia celastroides, Aleurites.
Shrub 3 ft at base of bare basalt band. Scattered and in flower on
cliffs. Stem and trunk dark purple ridged w/ light bm in
depressions. Lvs green w/ purple splotches. Flower yellow.
Achenes straight w/ hairs on side edge. Branches cascading.
