831 W. Buckingham Street.
Cultivated herb. Bulb white, sparingly forming bulb-
lets. Strong odor of garlic. Stems glaucous. Infl.
bracts calyptrate, caducous. Pedicels pale pink. Te-
pals white to pale pink with medial green stripe.
Filaments white. Anthers pale yellow.
N.v. "ajo macho" - grown from bulbs purchased in cen-
tral market, Tingo Maria, Dept. Hu&nuco, Peru, Dec.
1981. (Plowman 11286). In Peru, used medicinally
rather than for food.
