Swampy woods with Abies balsamea, Picea mariana,
Alnus, Populus balsamifera, P. tremuloides, Salix bebbiana.
Diffuse clump or colony of few-stemmed clumps, 3 m. tall,
the stems slender, erect, apparently only slightly larger
shrubs here as these suffering from roadside cutting; stem
1.9 cm. in diameter, ca. 6 years old. Voucher for wood
specimen, Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw, RSAw. Staminate;
past anthesis {Nee 63546, 63547 here are S. bebbiana, now
in anthesis).
