Comaceae Cornus obliqua Raf. det. M. Nee, 2017 WISCONSIN, Crawford Co., 2.5 km. (by air) NNE of Wauzeka, Kickapoo Wild Woods State Natural Area. 43°06’25”N, 90°52’23”W. alt. 200 m. T 7 N; R 4 W; 8WKBEM sect. 5. Floodplain of Kickapoo River, marshy area in old oxbow, complete dominance of Phalaris arundinacea, with scattered trees of Salix nigra, S. interior and shrubs of Cephalanthus occidentalis, Cornus obliqua. Shrub, forming a loose clump of 5 stems this size, 2.8 cm. in diamter and ca. 11 years old (rings difficult to count), and a few smaller replacement stems. Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw, RSAw. Twigs dull dark purplish; pith tan. Flowers white, held in flat-topped clusters on erect peduncles, with little odor (9:30 A.M., sunny). Coll.: M. H.
