Sandy barrens, slightly rolling. With Pinus banksiana,
Populus tremuloides, Betula papyrifera, Quercus
macrocarpa, Q. velutina, Pteridium aquilinum, Pedicularis
canadensis; some areas planted to Pinus strobus.
Slender, single straight erect trunk, 4.5 m. tall, 3.2 cm.
in diameter, ca. 14 years old. Voucher for wood
specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw, RSAw.
Many flowering when much smaller in size.
