Flat meadow area across road from Sandhill State Wildlife
Area. Dominated by Betula pumila, with scattered Pinus
strobus, Betula papyrifera.
Shrub, dominant here, forming a loose clump of a dozen
stems to 1.6 cm. in diameter and 5 years old, some clumps
with 2 dozen stems and maximum of 2 m. tall. Voucher for
wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw, RSAw. Calm sunny
morning (10:30 A.M.) and plants releasing pollen.
