State Natural Area.

One patch seen on slope down from sand barrens to the
backwater in floodplain of Wisconsin River. With Prunus
virginiana, P. serótina, Zanthoxylum americanum, Ulmus
americana, Betula nigra, Carya cordiformis. Shrub 1.3 m.
tall, the stems to 1 cm. in diameter, 3-4 years old but the
clump must be much older. Wood bright lemon yellow.
Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw, RSAw.
Flowers hanging, pale yellow.
