Grassy, sedge meadow along stream. Alnus incana ssp.
rugosa, Spiraea alba, Salix discolor, S. petiolaris. dense
tussocks of Carex.
Shrub to 2 m. tall, many stems in a diffuse clump, all the
stems slender, to 1.3 cm. in diameter and 3—4 years old,
some stems yellow-green, some purplish brown. Voucher
for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw. Staminate; catkins
visited by a small bumblebee and probably flies; see Nee
63437 for a pistillate plant.
