Young woods in draw between ridges. Tilia americana,
Populus grandidentata, many Juglans nigra and a few J.
cinerea, with Podophyllum peltatum, Staphylea trifolia.
Tree 20 m. tall, 23 cm. in diameter. Voucher for wood
specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw, RSAw. A blue-
green stain appears at junction of heartwood and sap wood
soon after cutting. Inner bark yellowish; sapwood pale tan,
the transition abrupt to very dark brown heartwood.
