[A. P. Anderson invented puffed cereal at NYBG in 1901 while researching the Meyer starch granule theory. At the time, Anderson was Curator of the Herbarium at Columbia University in New York City, and had the opportunity to conduct his own research at NYBG. He taught at Clemson Agricultural College in South Carolina from 1896 to 1899.]
