Apiaceae Torilis japónica (Houtt.) DC.
det. M. Nee, 2017
WISCONSIN, Richland Co., 3 miles SE of center of
Richland Center.
43°18’26”N, 90°19’57”W. alt. 231 m.
T 10 N; R 1 E; NE^NE^ sect. 35.
Growing in flower bed at house, otherwise unknown on this
farm and the seed probably accidentally brought in with
herbarium collections I have made elsewhere in
southwestern Wisconsin. Herb 1.8 m. tall, much-branched
from base; crushed foliage, stem or root with no particular
odor; stem scabrous, somewhat sticky. Plant quickly wilting
when pulled up; the larger lower leaves much less obviously
long-attenuate at the tip than the upper leaves. Main stem
obviously zig-zag. Beginning to bloom; inflorescences flat-
topped, light pink-purple, the open flowers more whitish.
