(by road) E of Hwy. 2.

Swampy woods with Thuja occidentalis, Picea, Abies
balsamea, Betula papyrifera, Alnus, Caltha palustris,
Sphagnum.
Thin bouldery woods just above swampy part, with Acer
rubrum, Populus tremuloides, Thuja occidentalis.
Young tree 8 m. tall, 10 cm. in diameter, ca. 30 years old,
with central erect trunk and spreading branches. Voucher
for wood specimen, Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw, RSAw.
Young unopened female aments red, at very top of narrow
crown, here the leaves here very different from the longer,
thinner, distichous leaves on unshaded lower branches.
