    United States of America. Utah. Summit Co. Uinta Mountains, Murdock Mountain, west-facing slopes above Bald Mountain Pass, just east of Highway 150, ca. 50 air miles east of Salt Lake City.

  • Habitat

    Rocky slopes just above timberline, northwest-facing 30% slope. With dominants: Carex, Polygonum bistortoides, Potentilla, Sibbaldia procumbens, Silene acaulis, Erigeron leiomerus, Solidago multiradiata; also with Poa alpina, Festuca ovina, Selaginella, moss. Soil pockets in rubble of metamorphosed sandstone, 40% bare ground, 30% exposed rock.

    Flowers white, or sepals very faintly bluish-violet; stamens pale yellow; 1-12 stems per plant. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
