NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN PALMS OF SULAWESI Indonesia. Sulawesi Tengah: Sigi Regency, Kulawi District, Toro Village, forest just east of village on steep slope, 01°29.393’S, 120°01.994’E, 880 m elevation. 29 September 2017. Areca vestiaria Giseke harao, puha Stems solitary, 12 m tall, 9 cm diameter, with stilt roots at the base. Sheaths, swollen, 90 cm long, bright orange-red; petioles 21 cm long; rachises 237 cm long; pinnae 24 per side of rachis, regularly arranged. Inflorescences infrafoliar, whitish at anthesis. A.
