Calamus macrosphaerion Beccari	noko ibo
Stems solitary, 12 m long, 6.5 cm diameter. Sheaths densely covered with short, horizontal,
narrow, black spines; knees prominent; ocreas 15 cm long, tattering; petioles 52 cm long;
rachises 369 cm long; pinnae 72 per side of rachis, regularly arranged, pendulous, with long,
yellow spinules ad- and abaxially; distal pinnae reduced and vestigial. Inflorescences 114 cm
long; all bracts tattering but rachis bracts seem ‘palustris-like’.
